Chester L. Flener, 67, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Chester was born March 15, 1945, in Flener, Ky., to the late Foy C. and Flora Flener Flener. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a lifetime member of the DAV Ohio City Chapter 11, a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, attended Morgantown Community Church and was a retired mechanic and welder. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vondalene Hill, and one brother, Edward L. Flener.
Chester L. Flener is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cathy Wisdom Flener of Morgantown; two sons, Jason Lee Flener (Beth) of Caneyville and Joey Wayne Flener of Morgantown; a granddaughter, Aleatha Brooke Swift of Caneyville; five sisters, Dorene Harrison and Debra Kidd (Dallas Wayne “Kidd”), both of Morgantown, Loretta Curtis and Judell Forbes, both of Louisville, and Gloria Gay Heilman (James) of Shepherdsville; a brother, Donnie Dewayne Flener of Morgantown; many nieces and nephews; a host of friends across the U.S. and Canada and his faithful companions, Max and Crickett.
Funeral services will be held at Jones Funeral Chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with Bro. Josh Scott officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at Jones Funeral Chapel. Special request is to dress casually.
