Funeral Home: Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel
David A. Furlong, 83, of Bowling Green, passed peacefully Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones.
The Barren County native was a son of the late E.E. Furlong and Opal Snoddy Furlong and was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Emery Furlong and Musie. He was a Dean’s milk distributor, a Navy veteran, a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ, the Plum Springs representative on the City County Planning Commission for more than 35 years and was active in several civic and community activities.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Laverne Smith Furlong; a son, Allan Furlong (Joni); a daughter, Joyce Furlong; six grandchildren, Sherry Simpson (Randy), Chris Furlong (Robin), Charla Lindbloom (Scott), Kayla Johnson (Shedrick), Kalan Brown (Fallon) and Eliah Furlong; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Seth, Mallory, Madalyn, Lindsey, Ethan and Will; two brothers, Maurice Furlong of Glasgow and Wayne Furlong (Louise) of Strausburg, Va.; and two sisters, Helen McCandless and Nadaine Brown (J.T.), both of Glasgow.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
