Mary Elizabeth Jeffries Waters, 87, of Cave City, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
She was born in Indiana, a member of the Cave City Church of Christ. She retired after 37 years from the Mammoth Cave Garment Company. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Bryant Jeffries and Lillian Taylor Jeffries; her husband, Marvin T. Waters; four brothers, Garland, Charles, Marvin and Garrell Jeffries; two sisters, Elsie Lane and Glenna Todd; and a grandson, David Wayne Houk.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha Estes Houk (Charles) of Horse Cave and Margaret Estes Thornsbury (Joseph) of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Sarah Highbaugh, Judith Jones (Mark) and Jeffrie Thornsbury (Christine); six great-grandchildren, Thaddeus Highbaugh, Lindsay Highbaugh, Katherine Jones, Quentin Jones, Elizabeth Jones and McKenna Thornsbury; a sister, Jewell Steed of Johnson City, N.Y.; a brother, William (Billy) Jeffries of Horse Cave; and by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Winn Funeral Home, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday until funeral time at the funeral home.
