Arley Poteet, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center in Morgantown.
Mr. Poteet was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Edmonson County to the late Easel E. Poteet and Mary Adaline Meredith Poteet. He was of the Baptist faith. His first job was as a tour guide in the Great Onyx Cave at Mammoth Cave National Park. Arley loved to hunt, fish and ride horses. He made knives and loved old cars. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Arless Poteet; and three sisters, Inas Clark, Helen Brooks and Elva Poteet.
Arley Poteet is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolores Houchin Poteet of Morgantown; a daughter, Wanda Kaye Gaskey and her husband, Billy Joe, of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Diana Whalin Poteet of Brownsville
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home, with Bro. Raleigh Blancett officiating. Burial will follow in Alexander Cemetery in Brownsville. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home.
