Marilynn Gardner of Alvaton, formerly of White Plains, N.Y., passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.
Marilynn was a native of Los Angeles. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Mildred Hurley-Ringer and sister of the late Jack Ringer. After graduating from Los Angeles High School, she married the late Claude T. Gardner. The Gardners resided there with their three daughters, Lynn, Joyce and Carol until 1947.
Marilynn and family moved to White Plains, where she was an active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church involved in the Legion of Mary, served with the Red Cross and was a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital.
In 2001, Marilynn moved to Alvaton with daughter Carol Schrecke. While residing in Kentucky, she attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green and was a member of The Bowling Green Community Greeters.
At age 99, Marilynn passed having lived a very full life. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a fabulous cook. She loved to play cards and always was ready for a party with a smile on her face. She will be remembered with fond memories of great family gatherings and never forgetting the dessert!
She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Gardner of Arizona, Joyce Gardner of Texas and Carol Schrecke of Kentucky. Marilynn had 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lover’s Lane Chapel, with prayer service at 6:30 p.m. On Friday from 11 a.m. to noon, there will be visitation at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass at noon. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
