Norma Sue Cardwell, 69, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Brownsville. Mrs. Cardwell was born March 17, 1943, in Jetson in Butler County to the late Van Buel and Lucy Ann Johnson Cardwell. She worked many years at Kellwood, Kanes and farming. Norma was a member and WMU leader at Sandy Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Green River Chapter DAR. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Kessinger; a sister, Wennie Bell Cardwell; and husband, Desper McKinney.
Norma Sue Cardwell is survived by her husband, Rayburn Cardwell of Morgantown; a daughter, Ellie Harbaugh and her husband, Joe, of Morgantown; a son, Steven Kessinger and his wife, Wynona; grandchildren Ryder Harbaugh, Kyle Kessinger, Kayla Hack and her husband, Tracy, and Marcus Kessinger, all of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Taylin Clark and Harper Hack of Morgantown; four sisters, Maxine Smith, Shelby Phelps, Vickie McPeak and Rosa Johnson and her husband, N.W., all of Morgantown; one brother, Van Buel Cardwell Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Morgantown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at Sandy Creek Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Bro. Wayne Stewart officiating, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery in Morgantown. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown. Mrs. Cardwell will lie in state Sunday from noon until funeral time at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
