Mr. Johnny Hester Jordan, 80, of Elkton, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his residence of natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Latham Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Keith officiating. Burial will follow in the Todd County Meadow Haven. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Latham Funeral Home.
Johnny was born in Todd County on Sept. 30, 1932, the son of the late Leonard and Oma Powell Jordan. He worked for Elkton Apparel Company for approximately 30 years and later retired from Flynn Enterprises. He was ordained as a deacon at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, church training director and assistant choir director. Later he became an active member of Elkton Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. Johnny was very involved with the Todd County Senior Citizens Center, served on the PADD Aging Council and was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and Atlanta Braves. He loved to fish, tinker, do handyman jobs, travel and spend time with his family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Duke Jordan; three brothers, Robert, Chester and Sylvester; and four sisters, Edith Lack, Della Henson, Lillian McGinnis and Mary Lucille Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Draper Jordan, of Elkton; a daughter, Elaine Powell and her husband, Ricky, of Bowling Green; two stepdaughters, Roxanna Faye Draper of Elkton and Sheila Keeling and her husband, Darrell, of Clifty; three brothers, Junior Jordan of Elkton and Sherman and Samuel Jordan of Indiana; a sister, Martha Boley of Elkton; a grandson, Christopher Powell and his wife, Emily, of Louisville; three step-grandchildren, Tina Rundall and her husband, Pete, of Arkansas, Travis Keeling of New Hampshire and Mindy Ward and her husband, Jason, of Illinois; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
