Cleo Harris, 94, of Bowling Green, and a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Christian Health Care Center.
The Warren County native was born April 29, 1918, a daughter of the late Foster G. and Alma Harmon Hazelip and the wife of the late James F. Harris. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Hazelip Harris; and a brother, Christy M. Hazelip.
Cleo graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1936 and attended Western Kentucky University, where she graduated in 1939, receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After completing her graduate work at WKU, Cleo began her continued life journey, giving back to her community through the world of education.
For 39 years Cleo was a school teacher as well as principal of College Street School in Bowling Green. The school has been gone for many years, and as we know it today the site is now occupied by the Bowling Green Post Office. Cleo retired in 1978 from the Kettering, Ohio, Schools.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
