Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane Chapel
Glenn J. Gentry, 85, of Alvaton, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at an area nursing home.
The Warren Country native was born Nov. 17, 1927, to the late Bennie and Olean Jones Gentry and his stepmother, Nell Gentry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sullivan Gentry; a sister, Phyllis Jones; and a son-in-law, Randy Patton. He was a member of Bays Fork Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Campbell’s Market and produce and was retired from Fry’s Grocery Store of Arizona as the retail clerk and manager. Glenn loved the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family, “His Tribe.”
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arlene Tabor Gentry of Alvaton; a son, Wallace and his wife, Terry, of Alvaton; four daughters, Dianna Hanes of Frankfort, Janice Patton of Bowling Green, Mona Beam and her husband, Larry, of Alvaton, and Rochelle Hoffman and her husband, Rod, of Smiths Grove; three brothers, Billy Gentry and his wife, Marilyn, of Florida, Charles Gentry of Bowling Green and Bobby Gentry of Tennessee; three sisters, Laverne Kirby of Tennessee, Sue Sharpe and her husband, Roy, of Glasgow, and Charlene Huff and her husband, Tom, of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
