Louise Daugherty Goodman, 85, of Bowling Green, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 11:45 p.m. at the Hospice Center, surrounded by her family.
She was a Cromwell native born Sept. 23, 1927, to the late Shelby and Yettie White Daugherty. She was the widow of Ruben Monroe Goodman. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy “Dot” Phelps Evans; two grandchildren, Clayburn Phelps Jr. and Carl Hayden Gerding; two sisters, Katherine Allen and Dorine Evans; two brothers, Mayburn and Chester Daugherty; and also three sons-in-law, Larry Evans, Pete Phelps and Dean Gerding.
She was a longtime member of the Andrew Baptist Church and worked at Fruit of The Loom.
She is also survived by two daughters, Freida Phelps and her husband, Clayburn, and Sherry King and her husband, Chip, all of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Linda Neighbors (Junior), Eddy Phelps (Tabitha), Kevin Phelps (Tonya), Barry Phelps, Clay Phelps (Bobbie Sue), Hayden M. Gerding and Teresa Gerding; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Bethany, Jonathan, Stephen, Joe and one on the way; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; her brother, Lester Daugherty of Rockfield; a special niece, Peggy Basham; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Andrew Baptist Church on Graham Avenue, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
