Samuel Bell Allen, 98, of Fort Smith, died Jan. 10, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was retired from Texas Refinery Corp. and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith.
He married Chris Allen in 1939 and they had four children, Betty and her husband, Clif Haygood, of Dallas, Andy and his wife, Melanie, of Magnolia, Ark., and twins, Tom and his wife, Denise Allen, of Bowling Green, and Christie and her husband, Bill, of Fort Smith. Sam was married for just over 50 years.
He married Jane Bleiler Allen in 1991. Jane’s children – Beverly and her husband, Bob, of Evergreen, Colo., Curtis and his wife, Diane, of Dallas, and David and his wife, Betsy, of Fort Smith – were also an important part of Sam’s life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Chris Allen; his granddaughter, Lacy Allen; and his four brothers and five sisters, Allie Bell Root, Neva Adell Jones, Monell Reinhold, Lou Roberts, Daniel Allen, Bob Allen, Thomas Allen, Gilbert Allen and Lois Trumble.
Funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church, with burial at 2:30 p.m. in Dickson Cemetery near Siloam Springs, Ark., all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
