Richard Leon Chapman, 83, of Bowling Green, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence.
The Butler County native was born Jan. 25, 1929, to the late Arthur Blaine Chapman and Maude Cardwell Chapman. Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Maxey Chapman, and a nephew, Byron Lee Chapman.
Mr. Chapman was a 1946 graduate of Butler County High School and was a farmer. He was a member of Rolling Springs United Methodist Church, Little Muddy Rural Development, Master Conservationist of Warren County and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Little Muddy Cemetery in Butler County. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Chapman is survived by three sons, Richard Chapman (Wanda), Gary Chapman (Veronica) and Jerry Chapman (Pat), all of Bowling Green; a brother, Horace Chapman (Sidney); and four grandchildren, Jeremy Chapman (Sara), Lacy Spillman (Derek), Hadleigh Chapman and Brandy Day; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Chapman and Allie Chapman.
