Funeral Home: Latham Funeral Home in Elkton
Effie Mae Perdue Higdon, 85, of Elkton, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 2:10 p.m. at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, with the Rev. Randy Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Effie was born in Todd County on Jan. 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles Spurgeon Perdue and Myrtle LuLu Vass Perdue. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Elkton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Monroe Warren Latham, in 1947; her second husband, Howard D. Higdon, in 2007; and a son, John Warren Latham, in 1995.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Glenn Higdon of Elkton and Scott Travis Higdon of Bowling Green; three daughters, Rita Mae Rager and Anita Mallory, both of Elkton, and Debra Kaye Mertz of Woodlawn, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
