Steve “Smitty” Smith, 60, of Bowling Green, entered into rest Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
A native of Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Gillard Smith and Jane Kinslow Thomson, who survives him.
Steve is also survived by his son, Michael “Smitti” Smith (Becky) of Louisville; two daughters, Leigh Ann Chaney and Jennifer Hoyt (Matt), both of Bowling Green; a sister, Kim Smith of Bowling Green; and three grandchildren, Tayton Smith, Brooke Chaney and Davis Chaney.
Steve was a man who cherished his kids. He was a man of laughter and joy, and loved cooking for his family and playing golf with his son and friends. He was a man who did anything and everything for the better of those around him. He was “Pops,” “Daddy,” “Pa Paw,” “Son,” “Brother” and “Smitty.” He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Bowling Green Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested love offerings to help with funeral expenses.
