Wallace Haynes Carrier, 95, died Jan. 18, 2013.
He was born in Bristol, Tenn., on June 12, 1917, to Walter F. and Belle Wassom Carrier. He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and an infant son on Dec. 19, 1951.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Galloway Carrier of Nashville; a son, Wallace H. Carrier Jr. (Bonny) of Franklin; three grandsons, Jared Haynes Carrier, Brian Martin Link and Robert Nicklaus Link; three great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alexis Link and Gavin Link; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Bristol, Tenn., High School, Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. Wallace worked 51 years with Baptist churches (1941 through 1991 – as a staff person at First Baptist Church in Clinton, Tenn., and Baptist Tabernacle in Louisville). He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Hartsville, Tenn.; First Baptist Church in Rockwood, Tenn.; Harrodsburg Baptist Church in Harrodsburg; and Mill Creek Baptist Church in Nashville.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Booker Gilbert Funeral Home, 325 West Cedar St., Franklin. Visitation also will be held Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd., Nashville, from noon until funeral service time at 2 p.m.
Interment will be at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville.
