Christine Whitaker, 80, of Bowling Green, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green.
Mrs. Whitaker was born Feb. 4, 1932, in Butler County to the late Ezra and Blanche Hawks Cardwell. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a retired toll booth attendant in Bowling Green for 26 years and also managed Stuckey Stores. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Whitaker I; a son, Billy Russ Whitaker II; a sister, Glodene Reid; and four brothers, James Cardwell, Kenneth Cardwell, Eldon Cardwell and Keith Cardwell.
Christine Whitaker is survived by a daughter, Shawnae Grimes and her husband, Martin; three grandchildren, Christopher Grimes and his wife, Mandi, Sandy Nunley and her husband, Mitchell, and Lauren Whitaker; four great-grandchildren, Emily Grimes, Andrew Grimes, Aden Berisa and Allie Argin Nunley, all of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, with Bro. Richard Oldham officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Sunday at Smith Funeral Home.
