Charlie M. “C.M.” Hawks, 78, of Wingfield, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Gilbert and the late Zelda Rhodes Hawks.
He was a well-respected member of his community. He was a carpenter most of his life. In the last few years of his life, he enjoyed going to the local grocery store to drink coffee and visit with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annette “Ann” Shultz Hawks of Wingfield; six children, Sherry Womack (Jim) of Bowling Green, Randy Hawks (Penney) of Wingfield, Teresa Dawson (Buck) of Scottsville, Mark Hawks of Paducah, Lisa Hawks (Mike) of Chalybeate and Jill Herron (Tony) of Alvaton; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Glenna Dorris Padgett of Lafayette, Ind.; and a brother, H.G. Hawks (Judy) of Pine Grove.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, a brother and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wingfield United Baptist Church, with burial in Wingfield Church Cemetery.
