Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
Rachel Higdon, 75, of Bowling Green, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at her residence.
The Gunterville, Ala., native was the daughter of the late Jewell and Ella Bridges Kennamer. She was a retired sales representative for Standard Publishing, a retired Army wife of 20 years, an incredible, loving wife, mother and grandmother, and an avid supporter of her kids and grandkids.
Rachel was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association of Bowling Green for 13 years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ed Higdon of Bowling Green; two daughters, Pam Bowdoin and Kim Vanderglas and her husband, Joel, both of Bowling Green; four sisters, Dorothy Schrimscher of New Hope, Ala., Dainesase Lemley and her husband, Burlin, of New Hope, Ala., Evelyn Lewis and her husband, Will, of McMinnville, Tenn., and Shirley Cunningham and her husband, Ray, of Brownsville, Tenn.; a brother, Harvey Kennamer and his wife, Pat, of McMinnville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brittany Bowdoin, Justin Vanderglas, Bradley Vanderglas, Hope Vanderglas and Nicholas Foster; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherrie Foster.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, with memorial service at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Cremation was chosen.
