Lura Luvina Elmore, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at her residence.
Lura was born on Nov. 19, 1921, in Warren County to the late James Oscar and Ima Lee Scruggs Johnson. She was the wife of the late Leslie Raymond Elmore. She was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Raymond “Buck” Miller; a granddaughter, Sabrina Forshee; a grandson, Jayden Michael Dean; a brother, Cecil Johnson; and three sisters, Mamie Ward, Josie Gray and Martha Cherry.
Lura Luvina Elmore is survived by a daughter, Mary L. Miller of Morgantown; a son, Leslie Clyde Elmore and his wife, Bobbie, of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Marsha Reed and her husband, Ethan, of Bowling Green, Jenny Jenkins and her husband, Charles, of Woodburn, and Rose Wells and her husband, Michael, of Bowling Green; four grandsons, Ray Miller of Hadley, Roy Miller of Richardsville, and Howard Elmore and his wife, Penny, and Timothy Elmore and his wife, Kathy, all of Indianapolis; two sisters, Minnie Martin of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Flossie Turner of Bowling Green; two brothers, Bud and Sonny Johnson, both of Bowling Green; 21 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at the Jones Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Bro. David Youngblood officiating. Burial will be in Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today; from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday; and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
