Charles William Hunter, 66, of Bowling Green, entered into rest Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
A native of Rockfield, he was the son of the late George W. and Louise Potter Hunter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Jerome Hunter.
Charles is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sharon Cofer Hunter; two sons, Charles William Hunter II of Dallas and Jason Alan Hunter of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Lauren Rushing (Daniel) and Megan Nicholson, both of Bowling Green; two sisters, Mary Bailey (Porter) and Linda Valentine; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was a member of First Baptist Rockfield and was a retired captain with the Bowling Green Police Department. Charles served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran who received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with V Device, and Combat Infantry Badge.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 175 Graham Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101, with burial to follow in the Brock Beery Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
