Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
William D. (Bill) Atkinson, 88, of Bowling Green, entered into rest Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.
The Barren County native was of the Protestant faith. He was a son of the late T. L. Atkinson and Ruby Brant Atkinson and the husband of the late Frances Steen Atkinson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane C. Atkinson.
He is survived by his son and daughter, David S. Atkinson and Ruth L. Flemister; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daniel Atkinson, Whitney Flemister and Mia Kulshreshtha; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a World War II Army veteran, served in the European conflict and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, E.A.M.E. Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, and Victory Medal. He worked 25 years in the broadcasting and telecasting industries.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 10 a.m.
