Robert Porter Amos, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his residence.

Robert was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Butler County to the late Charles Porter and Vercie Elizabeth Baize Amos. He was a member of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and Banock Masonic Lodge No. 824. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from U.S. Post Office, where he received the million mile award as a mail carrier. He was past president and a lifetime member of Butler County Fox hunters Club and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Thomasetti, Lorene Franks and Delores Daugherty; and a brother, Earl Daye.

Robert Porter Amos is survived by his wife, Janice Rae Amos, of Morgantown; three daughters, Deborah Rae Amos of Morgantown, Peggy Sue McNeill of Hickman and Sandra Kaye Hunt of Morgantown; a son, Bobby Amos Jr. of Morgantown; five grandsons, Josh Amos of Morgantown, Rodney Gregory of Morgantown, Robert Gregory of Perrysburg, Ohio, Dustin Embry of Morgantown and Joey Bates of Mayfield; four granddaughters, Jessica Dawn Simmons of Morgantown, Sarah E. Amos of Morgantown, Shonna McNeill of Paterson, La., and Carley Brown of Morgantown; great-grandchildren, Will and Clay Amos of Morgantown, Gracie Hunt and Kaydence Lykins of Morgantown, Emily Gregory of Morgantown, Makenlee, Sophie and Jagger McNeill of Paterson, La., and Adelynn Bates of Mayfield; a brother, Garland Amos of Wooster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Bro. Gene Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitation is today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Chapel and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, conducted by Banock Masonic Lodge No. 824.
