Howard L. Belcher, 89, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown.
Mr. Belcher was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Butler County to the late Oscar V. and Mattie L. Pierson Belcher. He was a member of the Elks Club #206 in Henderson for 42 years, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a bartender for 25 years. Howard loved to garden, farm and rabbit hunt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella M. Belcher; sisters Evelyn Basham, Ruby Jackson, Laura Phelps, Erma Carpenter and Cesna Belcher; brothers, Emerson Belcher, Leslie Belcher, Dick Belcher and Elgin Belcher; and his niece, Francis Johnson of Morgantown.
Funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Bro. Alvin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the London-Tyree Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
