The Rev. Alburn Gilliam, 87, of Scottsville, died at 12:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Westmoreland Care and Rehab.
The Allen County native was a retired farmer, member of Pleasant Grove General Baptist Church, Graham Lodge No. 208 F & AM, Royal Arch Masons and Council, Mount Union Association of General Baptists, an original committee member for the Mount Union Association Tabernacle and General Baptist minister since 1958. He was a son of the late Clarence Gilliam and Lattie Lucille Johnston Gilliam and husband of the late Mary Marie West Gilliam and Mary Etta Calvert Gilliam.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bunch Gilliam of Bowling Green; two sons, Bro. Lawrence Gilliam and his wife, Fredia, and Willard Gilliam and his wife, Greta, all of Scottsville; three daughters, Marjorie Mosley of Conyers, Ga., and Melba Patrick and her husband, Arnold, and Donna Williams and her husband, Greg, all of Scottsville; a brother, Clarence Gilliam Jr. of Scottsville; two sisters, Mary Lucille Smith and her husband, Nathan, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Peggy Smith and her husband, James, of Scottsville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, three great-great stepgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Goad Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
