Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
Richard A. Black, 81, of Bowling Green, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at The Medical Center at 1:32 p.m.
Richard was a native of Chicago and was born Nov. 30, 1931. He was preceded in death by his wives, Maryon Black and Rollaine Black; his parents, Robert Black and Hilda Green Fuhrman; and a stepson, Donald DeSlover.
Richard was a 31-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, member of the American Legion No. 854 and Retired Chicago Police Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and dearly loved his pets.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Lisa Ann Black, Colonel U.S. Army Medical Corps of Fort Sam Houston, Texas; a son, William Michael Black of DeKalb, Ill.; a stepson, Rick DeSlover of Greenbrier, Tenn.; two sisters, Patricia and Sandra; and two stepgranddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel, with visitation today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
