Janice Rae Amos, 74, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at her residence. Janice was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Butler County to the late Daniel Rogers and Mabel Burton Young and was the wife of the late Robert Porter Amos. She was a homemaker, member of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, Dexterville Homemakers Club and a special needs teacher in Butler County. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Chyle.
Janice Rae Amos is survived by three daughters, Deborah Rae Amos of Morgantown, Peggy Sue McNeill of Hickman and Sandra Kaye Hunt of Morgantown; son Bobby Amos Jr. of Morgantown; four granddaughters, Jessica Dawn Simmons of Morgantown, Sarah E. Amos of Morgantown, Shonna McNeill of Paterson, La., and Carley Brown of Morgantown; five grandsons, Josh Amos of Morgantown, Rodney Gregory of Morgantown, Robert Gregory of Perrysburg, Ohio, Dustin Embry of Morgantown and Joey Bates of Mayfield; great-grandchildren Will and Clay Amos of Morgantown, Gracie Hunt and Kaydence Lykins of Morgantown, Emily Gregory of Morgantown, Makenlee, Sophie and Jagger McNeill of Person, La., and Adelynn Bates of Mayfield; three sisters, Sharon Dotson of Morgantown, Faye Thomas of Bowling Green and Dana Smith of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, William C. Rogers of Glasgow and Ricky Young of Mount Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Gene Garner officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Monday from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.
