Avanelle Cherry Johnson, 83, of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Rosewood Healthcare.
She was the daughter of the late H.B. Cherry Sr. and Anna Louise Cherry. She was also preceded in death by her late husband, Charlie Johnson. Avanelle was an Anna native, a retiree of Holley Carburetor, a past seamstress at Fruit of the Loom and a former member of Eastern Star. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Johnson, and his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Patricia Glenn and her husband, Lonnie, all of Bowling Green; a sister, Rose Brown of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Charles Allen and his wife, Amanda, of Bowling Green, and Charlene Durbin and her husband, Anthony, of Brownsville; two great-grandchildren, Colton Durbin and Emma Durbin of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Hall Cherry, Norman “Dube” Cherry and H. B. Cherry Jr.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial at Cherry’s Chapel.
