John L. Martin, 83, of Louisville, entered into rest Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Louisville.

A native of Woodbury, he was the son of the late John L. and Alma Decker Martin Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Hanley Martin, and sister, Maxine Martin.

John is survived by his three sisters, Christine Martin Howell, Virginia Ruth Martin and Myral Martin Vogeding; a niece, Jennifer Holland of Nashville; a nephew, Donald M. Hill of Mount Washington; and several great-nieces and nephews.

John was a humble man who loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a retired mechanic and was a gifted artist and portrait painter. He was a member of River City Baptist Church in Louisville.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, with burial to follow in the Morgantown City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:30 p.m.
