Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel
William “Bill” Pirtle, 82, of Bowling Green, passed away March 30, 2013, at The Medical Center at 9:55 a.m.
He was born in Macon County, Tenn., on Sept. 2, 1930. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Pirtle, his parents, Arthur and Lucy Gregory Pirtle, two sisters, Christine Gregory and Lorene Dixon, and two brothers, Frank Pirtle and A.K. Pirtle Jr.
Bill was a member of Southside Baptist Church, retired from FMC Corp. and a was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Witten (Tim) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Jerry Edwards Jr. (Jamie) of Smiths Grove and Todd Edwards (Becky) of Bowling Green, Brittany Witten of Bowling Green and Ashley Talley (Greg) of Knoxville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, William, Megan, Tyler and Samuel, and his special companion, “Taco.”
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
