Shelby Dean Douglas, 73, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville at 3:40 a.m.
Shelby was born April 2, 1939, in Topeka, Kan. He was preceded in death by his son, Scooter Douglas, and his parents, Daniel Shelby Douglas and Elizabeth Virginia Adams Reno. Shelby was retired owner of Creditors Collection Bureau, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, past president of Kiwanis Club in Henderson, past president of the Kentucky Collectors Association, a Kentucky Colonel and a master leathersmith. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Douglas; one son, Tad Douglas (Lori) of Bowling Green; one daughter, Chris Zimmerman (Eric) of Vancouver, Wash.; and six grandchildren, Trevor, Cassidy and Molly Runyon, Morgan and Tanner Douglas and Elizabeth Zimmerman.
A celebration of life will be held privately by the family. Shelby chose to be cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
