Ruby Pauline Bailey Hammers, 94, of Rochester, passed away April 4, 2013, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Mrs. Hammers was born June 7, 1918, in Butler County to the late Rhier and Nina Belcher Bailey. She was a member of Rochester Baptist Church and was an airplane riveter in World War II. Pauline was a homemaker and avid UK fan, loved cooking, piecing quilts and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Cooke Hammers; one daughter, Patricia Pauline Hammers; great-grandson, Haskell Hudnall; one sister, Laura Mae Bailey; and four sons-in-law, Bobby McKee, Randall Maxfield, Mickey Dwyer and Darrel Evitts.
Ruby Pauline Hammers is survived by six daughters, Joyce McKee of Rochester, Aline Maxfield of Rochester, Linda Benton and her husband, Larry, of Drakesboro, Jane Tutko and her husband, Andy, of Morgantown, Doris Dwyer of Drakesboro and Sandra Evitts of Greenville; four sons, Loye Hammers and his wife, Judy, of Rochester; Gary Hammers and his wife, Hilda, of Browder, Troy Lenn Hammers of Lewisburg and Keith Hammers of Rochester; two sisters, Tempie Webster of Morgantown and Coleen Turner of Central City; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Speaker Shane Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery.
