Charles W. Gentry, 72, of Bowling Green, passed away at 3:15 p.m. April 8, 2013, at his home with his loving family at his side.
Charlie was a painting contractor until his retirement. Mr. Gentry was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Bennie J. Nell Carter Gentry. Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Thurman Gentry; a brother, Glen J. Gentry; a sister, Phyllis Gentry Jones; a son, Dennis L. Gentry; and a grandson, Kenneth W. Humphrey.
Mr. Gentry is survived by a son, Kenneth W. Gentry, and a daughter, Terry L. Gentry, both of Bowling Green; a grandson, Staff Sgt. Charles E. Gentry and his wife, Amy, of Fort Richardson, Alaska; two granddaughters, Ashley Cross and Samantha White of Bowling Green; three sisters, Charlene Duffy and her husband, Tom, of Bowling Green, Sue Sharp and her husband, Roy, of Glasgow and Laverne Gentry Kirby of Springhill, Tenn.; two brothers, Bobby Gentry of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Billy Gentry and his wife, Marilyn, of Pensacola, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Emily Humphrey, Peyton Humphrey, Aubrie Cross, Candence Humphrey, Brynley Humphrey, Eva Mae White and Kaylee Marie Johnson; and his special caregiver, Linda Wemes of Bowling Green.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
A private funeral service will be held with burial in Bowling Green Gardens.
