Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
Suel Houchens, born in Barren County on June 20, 1929, died April 21, 2013, at Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was the son of the late Buford and Gladys Houchens. He attended Forest Park Baptist Church, retired from Houchens Industries, was on the board of the Boys & Girls Club, co-owner of McKinney-Houchens Used Cars and showed and loved walking horses.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Houchens; daughter Debbie Williams and her husband, Steve; son Steve Houchens and his wife, Diane; stepson Greg Moore and his wife, Pam; stepdaughter Susie Houchens; sisters Linda Freeman and her husband, Jimmy, and Ruth Glass; four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren, seven great-stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ruel Houchens, Glynn Houchens and James Houchens, and a stepdaughter, Lynn Daniel.
Visitation is Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Fairview Cemetery No. 2.
