Vivian Bush Phelps, 72, of Rich Pond, entered into rest April 24, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
A native of Bowling Green, she was the daughter of the late William Vivian and Anna Laura Heard Bush. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arnold Bush, and father-in-law, Earl Phelps.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Phelps; son, Larry Lynn Phelps of Bowling Green; daughter, Lisa Anne Rabold (Bobby) of Bowling Green; three brothers, Lewis Bush (Sylvia) and David Bush (Ida), both of Rockfield, and James Bush (Joy) of Franklin; sister, Carolyn Chapman (Randy) of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Nick Rabold, John Phelps and Hunter Phelps; mother-in-law, Amy Phelps of Rich Pond; and several nieces, nephews and many generations of Warren County students.
Vivian was a teacher for more than 30 years in Warren County. She began teaching in 1970 at Cumberland Trace Elementary School before accepting a position at Rich Pond Elementary. Vivian spent most of her career teaching at Drakes Creek Middle School. She retired from teaching in Warren County in 2001. Vivian earned the Outstanding Young Educator Award in 1971. She was a member of the ADK teacher’s sorority and the Kentucky Education Association.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 10 a.m.
