Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
Lester Daugherty, 96, of Bowling Green, passed away May 7, 2013, at his residence.
The Ohio County native was the son of the late Shelby and Yettie White Daugherty and husband of the late Hazel Daugherty. He was also preceded in death by five sons, Tinkle, Claude, Claudie, Clayton and Jimmy Daugherty; three sisters, Dorine Evans, Katherine Allen and Louise Goodman; two brothers, Chester and Mayburn Daugherty; and two grandchildren, Connie Easton and baby Daugherty.
He was a retired farmer and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Butler County. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He loved riding his four-wheeler, chewing tobacco, hunting and fishing, sitting in his swing and he loved all his neighbors.
Lester is survived by two sons, the Rev. David G. Daugherty (Sandy) of Rockfield and Bobby G. Daugherty (Terri) of Alvaton; five daughters, Anna Adams (Arthur), Woodburn, Kathleen “Kathy” Embry of Bowling Green, Nell Buchanon (Frank) of Alvaton and Reda Bray (Phil) and Vickie Grant (Robert) of Bowling Green. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one due in November, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Lovers Lane Chapel, with burial in New Liberty Cemetery in Butler County.
