Ernest Lewis Madison, 85, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was born in Edmonson County on October 21, 1927, to the late Harry Lewis and Hallie Copas Madison. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church for over 60 years and served there as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the deacons and numerous other positions. He was a 1946 graduate of Auburn High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258 in Auburn. Ernest was a farmer and also worked as a Bookkeeper for BP Oil in Franklin and weigh man at Tri County Stone.
He is preceded in death by a son, John Allen Madison; three brothers, Herman Madison, Jack Madison and Hoyt Madison; three sisters, Lorene Madison Ogles, Margalene Madison McReynolds and Jewll Madison Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Allen Madison for over 60 years; a son, David Madison of Bowling Green; a daughter, Nancy Brand and her husband, Marcus, of Bowling Green; a brother, Kenneth Madison and his wife, Faye, of Bowling Green; a sister, Elizabeth Madison Ellis and her husband, J. L., of Bowling Green; and two granddaughters, Stephanie Brand of Atlanta and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Brand of Bowling Green.
Funeral services for Ernest Lewis Madison will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Funeral Home Auburn Chapel, with Bro. Kenny Chyle and Bro. Nick Stamps officiating, with burial in Auburn Cemetery. Visitation begins from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues from 8 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday.
The family ask that donations be made to the Gideons. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
