James Lindy Cox, 92, of Bowling Green, passed away at 8:39 a.m. July 10, 2013, at the Greenview Regional Hospital.
James was born on Dec. 9, 1920, to the late James Matterson and Pearl Barger Cox and was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Evelyn Carver Cox, and by two brothers and one sister. He was a member of the Goshen Lodge of Alvaton and was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He retired from L&N Railroad after 30 years of service as an electrician.
Survivors include two stepsons, Jim Cox and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bowling Green, and Eddie Wagoner and his wife, Patsy, of Bowling Green; stepdaughter Beverly Floyd and her husband, Chuck, of the Anna community; and seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel, with burial in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Bard officiating. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, with visitation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
