James L. “Booster” Flowers, 97, of Bowling Green, formerly of Morgantown, passed away July 10, 2013, at his residence.
Booster was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Butler County to the late Earl and Myrtle Taylor Flowers and was the husband of the late Glendolyah Peay Flowers. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran serving five years, a 66-year member of Cassia Lodge No. 272 F&AM, past bank director at Green River Deposit Bank, was retired from U.S. Soil Conservation Service, was an active member of the Butler County Saddle Club, was financial manager of the Logansport Labor Day BBQ/dance, a lifetime member of the VFW Oost 5837, a retired farmer in the Logansport Community and was a key in facilitating water and electric to the Logansport community.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Clough and Jo Thompson.
He is survived by his companion, Loraine Snyder of Bowling Green; Loraine’s son, Larry Kennedy and his wife, Michelle, of Bowling Green; nephews Gregory Thompson of Indianapolis, David C. Peay of Tyler, Texas, and Timothy E. Peay of Big Sandy, Texas; niece Paula Peay Duff of Krugerville, Texas; great-nephew Kevin Thompson of Indianapolis; and sister-in-law Dorothy L. Peay of Tyler, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dr. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, where military rights will be presented by AM Vets Post 117. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic rites are being conducted by Cassia Masonic Lodge No. 272 at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
