Wilma “Jean Ward” Cannon, 87, of Scottsville, passed away July 20, 2013, at The Medical Center at 12:55 a.m.
Jean was born July 19, 1926, in Bowling Green and was preceded in death by her husband, retired Lt. Col. Wilbur Jesse “W.J.” Cannon; her parents, Herbert and Ora Clark Ward; and one son, Patrick Terrance Cannon.
Jean was former owner and partner of the Allen County News and Cannon Office Supply, both in Scottsville. She was never in active duty in the military but served as a military wife, raising three wonderful boys. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State Teachers College. While in college, she was a baton twirler in the band and taught many young ladies in Scottsville the art of baton twirling. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W.
Jean is survived by one son, Clark R. Cannon (wife Sharon) of Bowling Green, and one granddaughter, Bianca Louise Barreto of Bowling Green.
A private memorial graveside service for immediate family and close family friends only will be held at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
