Sue Frances Borders, 91, of Bowling Green, passed away at 6:10 a.m. Nov. 11, 2013, at Christian Health Center.
The Warren County native was born Feb. 22, 1922, to the late Monroe Lightfoot and Mollie Walton Lightfoot. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daskel L. Borders; two half sisters, Evelyn Anthony and Josephine Jackson Clark; and a son, Jerry Lee Borders.
Mrs. Borders was a College High School graduate, attended Bowling Green Business University and was a homemaker and retired secretary from facilities management at WKU. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1945 where she was a member of the Victoria Sunday school class, senior adult fellowship, former member of the sanctuary choir and Jubilee Singers. She worked in children’s Sunday school many years as well as with college students in Baptist training union. Mrs. Borders served on the state board of Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children and was a charter member of Hilltopper Athletic Foundation.
Funeral services for Mrs. Borders will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and again from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
Mrs. Borders is survived by a daughter, Sue Carole Hall (Sam) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, David Borders of Louisville, Leigh Borders Mayes (Robyn) of Louisville, Heather Hall Flint, (Eli) of Atlanta and Scott J. Hall of Bowling Green; five great-grandchildren, Caroline Koenig, Julia Koenig and Graham Koenig, all of Louisville, Rory Flint and Ferris Flint of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
