Walton H. Luttrell, 88, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Glasgow, departed this life Nov. 27, 2013, in Punta Gorda.
The Edmonson County native was born Oct. 4, 1925, to the late Chester and Zora Davis Luttrell. He was married to the late Mildred Loretta Minton Luttrell.
He was a World War II Army veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Education as a division director. He was a former teacher at Hiseville School, was former Barren County School superintendent and was instrumental in the construction of the new Edmonson County High School. He was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church, Allen Lodge #24 F&AM and attended Berean Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He is survived by a nephew, Grant L. Minton and his wife, Tonda, of Auburn; a niece, Beth Vincent, and her husband, Donnie, of Sweeden; and a sister-in-law, Linda M. Elmore, and her husband, John, of Punta Gorda. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jonathan Minton Luttrell.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel, where the funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Sweeden Cemetery.
