Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel
R.B. Adamson, 70, son of the late Refus B. and Ella Mae, went to meet the Lord Jan. 4, 2014, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
He was the long-time pastor of Victory Baptist Church. Bro. Adamson began pastoring Victory in 1968 and continued until his death. His passion had always been for the at-risk youth of our city, working tirelessly in opening the Victory Youth & Family Center formerly located at Sixth and State Street. The church sent over 600 young people free to camp in order to work individually with struggling families. Many have commented since his death that those efforts changed their lives in turning them to Christ.
Bro. Adamson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sondra (Arington); his daughters, Angela McKinney and her husband, Earl, of Clarksville, Tenn., Lisa Johnson and her husband, Daryl, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Christa Jennette and her husband, Chris, of Olney, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Jerry Adamson from Leitchfield; two sisters, Wanda Thompson from Georgetown and Sandra Hanes of Louisville; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at Bowling Green Gardens.
