Joe David Cockrill, 66, of Bowling Green, passed away Jan. 28, 2014, at 12:37 a.m. at The Medical Center. Joe was born May 8, 1947, in Warren County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Gertrude Mitchell Cockrill, and brother George Fultcher Cockrill.
Joe was a retired truck driver and attended Glen Lily Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR and “Duck Dynasty,” street car racing at Beech Bend and working in his garage.
He loved his animals, Roscoe, Callie, Lacy and Baby, taking them riding on his golf cart. He will be missed by his wife and daughter and all the friends and family who knew him. Some of his friends called him “Big Joe,” and his daughter called him “Deddie.”
Joe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Adams Cockrill; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Cockrill of Hopkinsville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry Adams (Twanna) of Bowling Green; and a nephew, Scott Adams of Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Lovers Lane chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
