Margaret Jane Harvey Minton, 90, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 29, 2014, at 1:05 p.m. after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Shreveport, La., on Feb. 7, 1923, to the late Earl J. and Daisy Harrod Harvey.
She was a graduate of College High and attended Western Kentucky University. She was employed in her early years as a window dresser at Pushin’s and Norman’s department stores. Later, she worked at Shields Gifts & Gallery and B&J Gallery prior to retirement.
Margaret was a long-time member of Rays Branch United Methodist Church serving as treasurer, pianist, youth worker and wherever needed. She was also involved in American Business Women’s Association, Bridge Club and Eclectic Book Club.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Hayward Minton; a son, Robert Minton (Betty) of Bowling Green; granddaughters Stacy Garrett (Dave) of Bowling Green and Sherry Alford (Lance) of Alvaton; and great-grandchildren Mallory, Whitney and Lucas Alford of Alvaton.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Broadway Avenue chapel. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
