Mrs. Patricia Joyce Alvey, 78, of Franklin, entered into rest Feb. 16, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.
Born Feb. 6, 1936, in Owensboro, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Xavier Brown and the late Edith Vanover Brown and she lived the last 52 years in Franklin.
She is survived by her loving husband Dr. Douglas R. Alvey; three daughters, Jill A. Davidson (Scott) of St. Louis, Mo., Laura A. Watkins (George M.) and Lea Alvey, all of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Danielle and Will Davidson and Mitchell and Parker Watkins; and two sisters, Lorrayne Jones of Madisonville and Faye Saville of Scotia, N.Y.
Mrs. Alvey was a homemaker, a Gold Life Master Bridge player, an avid lover of flowers and a sports enthusiast.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Franklin, with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 6 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from noon until funeral service time Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
