BROWNSVILLE — James Joseph Whobrey, 69, of Bowling Green, passed away at 12:30 a.m. March 30, 2014, at his home.
The Edmonson County native was a roofer and a member of Madison Avenue General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Minor Lee Whobrey and Ruthie Elizabeth Hardin Whobrey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Olis Whobrey, and a sister, Judy Wood.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunny Point General Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the church. Gravil Funeral Home is directing.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Lindsey Whobrey; two sons, James Whobrey Jr. (Marie) and Tommy Lee Whobrey, both of Bowling Green; a daughter, Amanda Neal (Bobby) of Bowling Green; two stepdaughters, Susie McGaughey (David) of Louisville and Barbara Casey of Bowling Green; 10 foster children, Gilbert “Paddy” Baize, Billy, Randy and Norma Richardson, Junior and Bubby Glass, Ricky Rich, Roy Basham, Ernest Jackson and Joseph Wolfe; two sisters, Carolyn Lowe of Brandenburg and Brenda Helm of Webster; three grandchildren, Lindsey Russell, Roger Buryns and Tommy Whobrey Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Katylenn Russell, Kaylee Whobrey, Sophia Buryns and Tanner Whobrey.
