Pearl Elizabeth Beach, 90, of Bowling Green, entered into rest March 31, 2014.
A native of Dublin, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Mrs. Earl Roberts and William F. Hitch. She was preceded in death by her son, Bennie P. Beach Jr.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bennie P. Beach Sr.; half brother Billy Hitch of New Braunfels, Texas; and granddaughter Hanna Ashley Beach of Bowling Green.
Pearl started the Jolly Time Kindergarten, a private school, and taught there for six years. She then moved into the Bowling Green city schools and taught first grade for five years at McNeill School. She then taught first grade at Western Kentucky University Jones Jaggers Laboratory school until it closed. The remaining 20 years of her career were spent in the education department at Western Kentucky University, helping develop future teachers. Her 40 years in her chosen field included teaching in Mississippi and Tennessee. Mrs. Beach was a member of the Current Events Literary Club and an active member of First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.
