Ronnie Dale Oakes, 66, of Cave City, died April 6, 2014, at 6:16 p.m. at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was born in Bowling Green on March 11, 1948, to the late Clarence Wesley and Florence Avo Mitchell Oakes. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann Robison Oakes; his brother, Clarence and sister Ruby; and his mother-in-law, Dottie Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Mary Lou Smith Oakes of Cave City; son Joseph Wesley Oakes and wife Erin of Gallatin, Tenn.; daughters, Lisa Ann Davis of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Rhonda Lynn Yarbrough and husband Darren of Springfield, Mo.; stepson Robbie Williams of Bowling Green; sister Sue Martin and husband Millard of Bowling Green; brother Jerry Oakes and wife Joann of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Kara McKenney, Caitlin and Courtney Center, Kaelyn Yarbrough, Samuel and Lauren Oakes, and Clay Williams; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and father-in-law, William Smith Jr. of Cave City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Broadway Avenue chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors.
