Funeral Home: J.C. Kirby and Son, Broadway Avenue Chapel
Bro. John Paul Brashear, 79, of Bowling Green, died at 7:58 June 22, 2014, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
He was born in Bowling Green on July 14, 1934, to the late Ellis Reed and Minta Greaver Brashear. He is the husband of Eva A. Moore Brashear, who died Aug. 1, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph Phillips; and his brothers, Edgar Lee Brashear and his wife Jean and Charles Brashear and his wife Polly. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was retired from Eaton Corp.
He was a Mason. He was a Baptist minister serving at several churches in the area. He loved people, and they loved him.
He is survived by his son, Barry Brashear and wife Brenda of Allensville; two daughters, Pam Drake and husband Kenny and Bonita Wallace, both of Bowling Green; his brothers, Kenneth Brashear and wife Evelyn, and Larry Brashear and wife Annie Ruth, all of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Jimmy Brashear (Trish), Tommy Brashear (Stephanie), Kristina Phillips, Sara Cowles (Michael) and Ryan Wallace (Jessica); nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby and Son, Broadway Avenue chapel. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in the Bowling Green Gardens.
