William Albert Stephens, 75, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014. The Bowling Green native was born a son of the late Albert Elvis Stephens and Lucy Lena Goad Stephens. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Stephens.
Mr. Stephens was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, serving in the Vietnam War. He worked as a jet aircraft mechanic. During his career in the Air Force and after his retirement he had the opportunity to work and travel all over the World. Mr. Stephens was a member of Bowling Green Masonic Lodge #73 and a Baptist.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Stephens; two sons, Bill Stephens (Beverly) and Gary Stephens (Christina), all of Bowling Green; two sisters, Dolly Duncan and Dolores Baldock (Jimmy), all of Bowling Green; two brothers, Larry Stephens of Scottsville and Monty Goad (Janine) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Sara Stephens, Nick Stephens, Shawn Gilbert and Blade Dean; and two stepgrandchildren, Tracey Long and Dakota Roberson. Several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Scamp also survive.
